LASERGRAPHICS INTRODUCES THE DIRECTOR, THE WORLD'S FASTEST PIN-REGISTERED MOTION PICTURE FILM SCANNER
Irvine, California, September 12th, 2006 — Lasergraphics, Inc. introduced The Director, the world's fastest, easiest to use, and lowest priced 35mm and 16mm film scanning system, at IBC2006.
Complementing its award-winning Producer line of motion picture film recording systems, The Director scans motion picture film at 9 frames per second, an unprecedented speed for pin-registered scanners. The Director's ultra-fast film transport system features multiple sensors to ensure optimal film steadiness, perfect focus, and continuously smooth and safe movement of the film. The unique modular design of the film transport system enables the operator to quickly switch from 35mm to 16mm.
The Director delivers high quality 2K and HD images for DI, HD transfers, and 35mm blow-ups. It simplifies digital intermediate and HD broadcast workflows with its Windows-based job manager, automated film loader, custom Keykode reader, and EDL import. The Director scans film material once at high speed; outputs any combination of files (including DPX, TIFF and/or Quicktime video); and creates the input to a “virtual telecine” or color grading system.
The Director quickly captures images and generates high resolution output with perfect color and low noise. The Director's light source is a custom LED integrating sphere which concentrates consistent light on the image area and is continuously calibrated to ensure repeatable image quality on all film stocks.
The Director's custom 35mm and 16mm Keykode readers capture single perforation accuracy at all speeds. They are fully integrated into the scanning process for Keykode searches, frame-accurate scanning, and embedding of Keykodes and timecodes into all of The Director's output files.
The Director comes complete with all the components (including host computer and CineDirector software) to start scanning on the first day. Its modular design enables fast and easy service worldwide. Free extensive technical consulting is included. The Director is competitively priced at below $200K for 35mm or 16mm, and below $250K for 35mm and 16mm.
